Dear Shasta Families,
Thank you so much for a wonderful first half of the year! We have truly enjoyed working with all of your students and look forward to an engaging, productive, and fun 2018 when we return in January.
We also want to take a minute to thank all the parents who contributed to our faculty holiday celebration today. From delicious food to gift card raffles, we felt extremely appreciated and loved by all of our families! Thank you!!!
Over break, we hope all students take time to recharge and spend time with family and friends. Summit Shasta will be closed from Friday, December 22nd through Sunday, January 7th. We look forward to welcoming students back to school at 8:20 AM on Monday, January 8th for our second round of Expeditions. The Shasta Bulletin will resume on Sunday, January 7th.

Students Participate in Final Projects Before Break
This week, students submitted final products in many of their classes. As seen in the photos from left to right, 12th graders in AP English Literature delivered lectures on a poem of their choice, Spanish 2 students worked in groups to create presentations around “La Independencia” in different countries, and 9th grade students got to hear from Ms. Casey’s father, a Vietnam War veteran, about his experiences. It was a phenomenal end to semester 1!

The XQ Student Voice Project is coming to Summit Shasta!
As you may know, last year Summit Shasta was named one of the 18 XQ Super Schools across the country. The XQ Super Schools are a set of diverse schools with one thing in common- we are all working to rethink high school and ensure that we are truly preparing our students for the careers of the future. The Student Voice Project is an opportunity for students who attend the XQ schools to share their stories. This is an opportunity to tell the world why you love Summit Shasta! XQ wants to hear from you. Learn more about the project here. The submission deadline is 1/12/2018. All students who submit an entry will receive some cool XQ swag. If you have questions about the project, contact Leslie Eme- firstname.lastname@example.org.
