Summit Shasta Bulletin: 1/14/2018

Summit Shasta Bulletin: 1/14/2018

We had a great first week of Expeditions! Here are a few highlights from the week!
  • – The Human Rights class went on a field trip to a local middle school to share what they’ve been learning.
  • – The Cooking Class had a Chopped-style Breakfast Cooking Challenge with teachers as guest judges.
  • – Movement and Girls on the Run continued to exercise and build endurance.
  • – Our teachers are working in departments to continue to develop their skills as educators.
We also encourage all families to attend the next event in our parent education series this Tuesday at 7 PM, the financial aid and college testing night. This event if highly encouraged for all 11th grade students and their families, but 9th and 10th grade families are also welcome to attend. We will explain more about the standardized tests that students take in 11th grade in preparation for college, such as the SAT, ACT, and AP tests, and go over the importance of the upcoming standardized tests. We will also have an expert from a local college present about financial aid and the process of applying for it.
As a reminder, Summit Shasta is closed tomorrow for Martin Luther King Junior Day. We look forward to welcoming all students back to school on Tuesday at 8:20 AM.

Best,
Wren and Ava
