Dear Shasta Families,
This week, you should be receiving your student’s progress report in the mail. We send these reports home to keep families informed of their student’s academic progress in classes. We are only four months away from the end of the school year and want to ensure that parents have all of the information they need in order to support their students in finishing the year strong!
Please review your student’s progress report. If a student has an “I” in a class, that means that they are currently failing that class. The progress report will also give you additional information about their grade and any work they need to complete.
You can always log into the platform at any time to see a more detailed picture of your student’s progress at https://www.summitlearning.org/parents/login.
We were also excited to celebrate our first First Friday celebration of 2018 this past week! Congratulations to the following students who were recognized as the February Black Bear of the Month Award Winners for their excellence in the Summit Shasta core characteristics of compassion, courage, curiosity, integrity, respect, and responsibility:
12th Grade: Maggie Hinds and Will Hinds
11th Grade: Kaii Davis and Cassidy Rydeen
10th Grade: Ben Alexander and Aspen Matteucci
9th Grade: Evelyn Ho and Julia Kuschner
Thanks for a great week!

Senior Parents – Class of 2018
Graduation details are here! Please check your student’s Progress Report (mailed home this coming week) in for the Ticket Order And Contribution Form. We are also linking it here (Spanish version here). It is important that we receive responses from each Senior family as this will help us with how you want your student’s name to appear on the diploma and how many tickets you need for graduation. Donations are also needed to make this a great event. Please send in your form as soon as possible so we can begin our planning.
Senior Squares in the Yearbook
Parents of seniors! The Yearbook Team is offering specialized spots called “Senior Squares” in which a spot on a page will be dedicated to your child. This spot will include your child’s name, any message you want, and any photos of your choice as a collage. There is no cost!
Please email rmanalang.sh@mysummitps.
Parent Education Night – Tuesday, February 13th at 6pm
Please save the date for the next SPOT meeting at 6 PM on February 13th. Vivienne Pustell, the Director of Digital Safety, will lead a presentation on technology in our schools. The presentation will focus on some of the main challenges facing students in their digitally connected lives (relating to things like social media, screen time, FOMO, etc), cover the basics of privacy and consent for students, discuss pros and cons of the digital life, and some potential approaches for parents to take in moderating and discussing it with their kids. Vivienne will also share what Summit is working on in relationship to digital safety and culture, as well as share resources that parents can draw on. We hope you can join us!
Young Dreamer Network Organizes Beach Cleanup!
