Summit Shasta Bulletin: 3/18/2018

Dear Shasta Families,

On Friday, we welcomed our newest class of Black Bears with our application lottery—the Class of 2022! We are so excited to say that this year, we had more applications for our ninth grade than ever before. We believe this a sign of value of our school community and the amazing growth that our students continue to make!

In order to continue working to make Shasta the best possible school for our students and families, we are seeking your feedback through our yearly Summit Parent Survey. This survey offers us a chance to hear your feedback and make changes to better serve our community. A few examples of some of the changes that we have made at Shasta based on your feedback are: Flex Time course offerings, Expeditions options, facility upgrades for our new building, and additional, consistent parent communication (including increased social medial presence).
Please take our 2017-2018 Parent Survey today! Shasta believes in listening to your voice to better understand what is working for you and your child and where you feel there might be room for improvement.

We’ve made changes to the survey based on your feedback from years past. This year’s survey is shorter and efforts were made to create a Parent Survey Advisory Team which included parents on the front end in helping us develop this year’s survey and the rollout process.

Your voice is incredibly important to our school, and we truly value your input and time. Thanks for a great week!

Study Trips – We Need Drivers!

Every year, our students look forward to the Study Trips that give them an opportunity explore colleges around California, build community with their classmates, and have fun! These trips are made possible by parent drivers who donate their time to drive students. We are still looking for drivers for our 11th grade trip. (We now have enough drivers for 9th and 10th grade!) If you are able to drive, please reach out to your grade level teacher and parent leads, listed below. We are nearing the deadline for getting enough drivers and want to make sure these trips can happen!

Young Dreamer Network Raffle Tickets on Sale Now

The Young Dreamer Network consists of student-led, teacher-advised campus chapters (student clubs) that involve youth in leadership development, local community service and international volunteer trips. YDN is selling raffle tickets to support their summer volunteer trips to India, Vietnam, Ghana, and Costa Rica and to sponsor kids abroad so that they can attend school. Each ticket will be sold for $5, for the chance to win a Honda Civic or $15,000 cash.
