AP English Literature
I joined the Summit Shasta team last summer as the founding AP Literature and Composition teacher after teaching in Pacifica for a number of years. I attended San Francisco State University for both undergraduate and graduate work, and spent much of my time there as a teacher in the Reading Assistance Program – a program centered around basic literacy skills for underserved youth. Since then, I have taught reading, writing, and speaking skills at the secondary level, and look forward to supporting Shasta’s seniors in their last year with us. I love Summit’s innovative model and commitment to excellence for every student. Summit Shasta’s diverse student population provides opportunities for powerful conversations around community, and how we can contribute as thoughtful members of society. At the conclusion of this course, I hope our students gain: a voice with which to express themselves in meaningful ways; analytical proficiency rooted in evidence; and an appreciation for literature beyond the classroom. I look forward to a productive, engaging, and enlightening year.
