Letter from the Shasta Leadership Team
Dear Black Bear Families,
Thank you to all the families that joined us for the Celebration of Learning this week. It was wonderful to see so many families on campus as students presented, shared, and displayed final products of their learning from their Expeditions experiences.
Monday marks the start of testing season! This week, juniors and seniors will engage in the CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Progress and Performance) and CAST (California Science Test). The testing schedule is below:
Monday, April 29th: CAASPP Day 1- English Computer Adaptive Test (Grade 11)
Tuesday, April 30: CAASPP Day 2- English Performance Task (Grade 11)
Wednesday, May 1: CAASPP Day 3- Math Computer Adaptive Test (Grade 11), CAST Exam (Grade 12)
Thursday, May 2: CAASPP Day 3- Math Performance Task (Grade 11), CAST Exam (Grade 12)
To ensure all students are prepared to do their best on each test, please support your student in doing the following:
1. Be on time. All students must arrive on time at 8:20 AM. These tests are required for all students so it is incredibly important to have all students present at school EVERY day.
2. Food for thinking. Students need to have a good breakfast and food between exams. Summit Shasta will work with our parents to help students have access to healthy eating prior to the exam.
3. Sleep. Students must receive adequate sleep so that they can be rested and alert for the test
4. Belief in their skills. Every student at Summit Shasta has worked extremely hard and grown in their cognitive skills this year. Every student is capable of scoring well on these tests. 80% of success on standardized tests is a belief in your ability to be successful. We will work to build up student confidence.
We look forward to a great week!
Wren, Ava, and Adelaide
