Summit Shasta Bulletin- 9/15/2019

Letter from the Shasta Leadership Team

Dear Shasta Families,

Expeditions launches this week! Expeditions empowers students to identify and cultivate their unique human potential through skill-building opportunities and perspective-changing experiences, leading each student to conviction in their purpose. These elective courses are taught in immersive two-week segments four times each school year.  Class topics include cooking, visual arts, wilderness, internship and independent study, and bike shop. We are thrilled to welcome all of the Expeditions teachers to Shasta this week, led by the Dean of Expeditions, Kalyn Olson. Kalyn is returning to Shasta for the second year as the Expeditions lead after serving as a visual arts teacher for a number of years. If you have questions about courses, Expeditions structure, or anything related to Expeditions, please reach out to Kalyn directly at kolson@summitps.org.

In addition, students will continue to have self-directed learning (SDL) time with their mentor each morning. This is a fantastic opportunity to ensure students have zero red checkpoints or overdue projects and for students to work ahead in all classes.

We look forward to a great week!

Best,
Wren, Ava, Adelaide, and Claudia
